After surgery
Your discharge instructions
Choose the operation you had. These are the same instructions you were given on the day of surgery, in case you have lost the paperwork or want to read them again at home.
When to call the office
Call (561) 627-8500 if you have any of the following:
- A fever over 101 degrees, chills, or you start to feel sick
- Redness or swelling around the incision
- Pain that seems out of proportion to what you would expect
- Drainage from the dressing, particularly if it smells foul
- Significant drainage from the incisions
- Pain that your medication is not controlling
A low-grade fever for a few days after surgery is not unusual.
If you think you are having an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not wait for a call back.
